For over 18 years we have made our own lotions that we have shared with many others who struggle with skin issues.  I (Heather) struggled with eczema and skin allergies and sensitivities since I was 5 years old. I remember my mom taking me to the doctor for my itchy oozing hands and being told to avoid paints and potentially animals. . none of those items were actually in my life at the time, but when we asked the doctor about that, he acted like, "What does that have to do with anything?" :).  I guess that is what they thought oozing weeping itchy skin was a result of. It wasn't until my early 20s when the quest for more natural foods as well as the purchase of our first cow, that the allergies and eczema disappeared - the more butter I made and consumed, the more I and my one brother's skin issues improved.

Then marriage happened and a move back into the city, and within 2 months I had itchy, hypersensitive, bleeding skin once again. When I told my in-laws how making butter out of raw cream had helped all of my skin issues, they skimmed milk from their very own cow's milk and sent 5 gallons of raw cream across 2 states for me to make into butter - now there's some love!

Twice a day, I would rub raw butter on my hands, and the skin issues disappeared. As much as I appreciated the remedy, raw butter doesn't last very long, and the smell of slightly sour butter on my skin wasn't very appealing. I spent days scouring the internet for information, researching ingredients and came up with about 500 recipes to try. I developed lotions and whipped butters that were natural, nourishing and addictive - it was almost impossible to be without them. The few times we ran out and tried something from the store, we couldn't believe how ineffective all lotions were - it didn't even feel like you'd applied anything and the hypersensitivity resulting left me with bloody hands again.

With the introduction of 5 darling babies over the next 8 years, the lotion making slowed considerable, but now with kids responsible and interested enough to help and research, we decided to offer it once again.

Our organic body cream is silky smooth and hydrating, as our raw honey combined with carefully selected oils and butters creates a luxurious, moisturizing cream - a must for dry skin. The oils/butters include avocado butter, squalane oil, sunflower oil, Rose hip oil, and cocoa butter. Why did we pick these butters and oils?

     - Avocado butter is rich in vitamins A, B, E, and D, and since dry skin absorbs it so well, it is excellent for the dry, cracked, and peeling skin resulting from harsh winter weather or repeated handwashing.

     - Squalane oil has many health benefits, and humans actually produce small amounts of it in our skin. It has been known for it's anti-aging properties, and because it's molecular structure is so much like that of our skin, it penetrates deep into the pores and fights off damaging free-radicals that contribute to signs of aging. This lightweight oils-of-oils also helps balance natural oil production in the skin, keeping your skin healthy and clear but never greasy. Because of it's anti-inflammatory properties, it has been used to treat eczema, acne, and similar skin conditions. It also helps to boost blood circulation, which stimulates collagen production and makes firmer, healthier, glowing skin. However, after your late 20's, your skin doesn't produce as much of it, so your skin will certainly appreciate Squalane oil's inclusion in the body cream you use.

     - Sunflower oil is rich in vitamin E and has many anti-inflammatory properties, as well as being full of Linoleic acid, which puts a protective barrier on your skin that helps retain moisture without clogging pores.

     - Rose hip oil is also a strong anti inflammatory oil, rich in vitamin E, Linoleic and Linolenic acid, which makes it hydrating and soothing. Linoleic acid is very important for the prevention of cell deterioration, so including it helps to build strong, healthy cells resistant to skin infections and irritations. Rose hip oil also contains vitamins A and C, which exfoliate and polish the skin, help to clear aging skin, promote natural collagen production, and encourage healthy cell regeneration.

Cocoa butter with it's high percentages of fatty acids which are naturally rehydrating and soothing, has been used for centuries to heal scars and smooth aging lines.
